I was completely stunned to read on Ravelry this morning that Karrie of KnitPurlGurl has passed away. She had recently started RAP (Random Act of Pattern) Tuesday which totally encouraged me to take some time out and send a little love into the yarny universe each week. She leaves behind a husband and 2 young children. I sent several RAPs this morning before I read about her passing and now I feel as though I need to do a little more. So, everyone who leaves a comment between now and 11pm tomorrow (that will be my EST 11pm) will be entered for a chance to win one of Karrie's The Lady Edith, Crosswords at the Coffee Shop, or Walnut Grove patterns. Winner's choice. I'll choose 10 people using the random number generator. (Be sure to leave your Ravelry id or an email address for me to get in touch or I'll choose another.) Hopefully this little bit will help her family during the holidays. Rest in peace Karrie and God bless your dear little family.
ETA: We had 10 comments so guess what??? Everyone gets a pattern! Ladies, thank you so very much for helping me do a little something for Karrie's family. Drop me a note and let me know which 1 of the 3 patterns above you'd like and I'll send it off to you. :-)

Happy Gobble Day!
Wishing everyone celebrating plenty of family, friends, and good food to be thankful for!
P.S. - Pattern is Owl Puffs (named Owlena by the littlest princess) and while I realize it's not a turkey, it is a bird and since we're having roaster chicken for dinner, well...you get what you get. ;-)

Sockhead Finito
This one is for Halos of Hope but I think I might be knitting several more just because. Great pattern and any chance to knit with Madelinetosh yarn is not to be missed.

Free Yarn
Did that get your attention? Good! Read on...
When I first looked at the Stitches East group on Ravelry and read about Halos of Hope I knew it was something I really wanted to get behind. Cancer touches all of us at some point in time whether it be ourselves, a family member, or dear friend who is diagnosed. We all know someone who has faught the fight.
HOH will be at Stitches East and we've been busy at the store working on hats to donate there. If you'd like to contribute we'd love to take your hat(s) with us! Looking for a pattern? There's an entire library on Ravelry. Go check it out!
What about the free yarn? One of the biggest expenses HOH has is the cost of shipping all the hats to the treatment centers they donate to. In order to help raise funds, HOH is accepting $10 donations in exchange for a vote to have one of the XRX guys shaved on the marketplace floor in just less than 2 weeks time! If you make a $10 donation and vote to shave Drew the Crochet Dude before this Friday, 10/5/12 I'll enter you to win a skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. Yummy!!! It's the same yarn I'm using to knit my Sockhead Hat. I know you won't be disappointed. You can email me a copy of your receipt or pm it to me on Ravelry. I'm kerryknits. :-)

Night and Day
We went to the Wild Center on Saturday just to meet these sweet little baby skunks.
They are Night and Day and are about 5 months old.
Too cute when they hop around trying to catch crickets.
