Deadlines

So normally I thrive on deadlines but this one has really pained me. I participated in Loopy Academy again and just finished my 3rd and final project today. The challenge was to knit a pillow, a textured project, and a cabled project. These are my entries:

What pained me about this was the huge amount of guilt I've felt about not spending time on other projects. Mostly those super important thrummed mittens that only need a thumb and a half. If anyone is looking for me I'll be spending my time with them.

Merry Christmas

I feel like we're living in a Gallagher skit...we can't have a full size Christmas tree because we have a baby. We tried to make up for the Charlie Brown tree by stringing twinkle lights.

She's so totally worth all of the changes we've had to make!

Merry Christmas to all!

It Grew

Not that I didn't know it would happen. I totally expected it.

I'm putting this away until next year. Hopefully she can start wearing it then. And she should be able to wear it for a good 2 years. Can't wait to see this on her! I really love it!

Ponchopus

It's done!!!

Ok, I still have to sew it up. And work in all the ends. And give it a tubby. But the knitting is done! It looks like an octopus right now. Best get to the finishing...

I've Been Cheating

With the cats downstairs.

My oh my are they ever precious. And the best part? Mickey doesn't seem to be bothered in the least with this little fling.

Puppy Love

I started these cute little mitts a bit back hoping to have them to the intended wearer, along with a puppy hat, before now. My new goal is by Christmas.

They will go to live with Dan's little ring bearer. He's crazy for dogs. :-)

Fort Crone

Thanksgiving vacation has officially begun. I expect a steady stream of kids and chaos for the next week. It doesn't get much better than this!

Ack!!!

I can't believe I forgot to post yesterday! In my defense, Maddie kept me hopping yesterday. That's a good reason, right? Here she is helping me with laundry. Oye.

Mount Fluffmore

Now that the little sweater is done my time is going to be completely devoted to the mitts I have going. I took the time to separate my fiber so the knitting will go much quicker.

Isn't it just heavenly???

Michele shared with me a really neat way to do thrums that she demonstrates over on her blog. I can't wait to try this method on the next pair I knit. Go check it out!

Sweet Baby Madilyn

Named after my granddaughter, this little cardigan is modeled after the adorable Sweet Baby Kate pattern.

It's available free at Adirondack Yarns with the purchase of Spirited Fibers Fingering yarn and is sized from newborn to 5 years. You can knit an entire set (hat, booties, and cardigan in 0-3 or 3-6 month size) from just one skein.

I had so much fun designing and knitting this and hope everyone else who knits it for a special little girl they know loves it every bit as much as I do!

The Hat

I finally took a few minutes to make a Pom-Pom and get this little knit finished. I've cast on for the poncho and will share that soon.

Applesauce Muffins

These are Dailaesse's favorite muffins. I got up early this morning and baked a batch for her. They're so moist. Yum!

Makes 12 muffins.

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg, beaten
1 cup cinnamon applesauce
1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions:
Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Line or spray a muffin tin.

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.

Mix in egg, applesauce, and butter by hand.

Scoop evenly into muffin pan.

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Fix It or Frog It???

That is the question.

So I took the Temptation hat with me on my afternoon school run and finished it up to just before the decreasing starts. When I got home I took a really good look at it. Then I took an even better look at the pattern.

Turns out about 30 rows ago when I was questioning the reversal of cable direction, I should have stopped and had that better look at the pattern then. Crappers.

See it there on the left side of the hat? Yeah, me too. It's currently in time out while I decide if it'll be quicker to rip back to the mistake or drop each of those cabled areas (there are 4 of them) and fix it.

What say you all???

Always Remember

Thank you to all our service men and women, today and every day, for your bravery and dedication. May God bless you and keep you in His hands.

The Cuteness

Good Lord how I love this pattern!

It's Sweet Baby Kate  and it pretty much rocks my world. I knit several of the little hats for our grandbaby when she was born, but never the booties. How I wish I had knit matching sets each time I used the pattern! The hat knits up in an evening and the booties seem to take even less time than the hat. And the little bit of knitting I've been showing pieces of? Totally coordinates with the hat and booties! Can't wait to share it with you soon! Just have to make a trip to the store for some dainty little buttons. Maybe tomorrow.

The Bitter Ends

My flame has been extinguished and I am officially off the island!

Now to work in all those ends.

The Boot

As expected, I'm still hanging out on Sleeve Island. But, I'm doing it in a killer pair of boots I've been drooling over for months.

(Please pardon my pasty white legs. And the purple tunic that really doesn't go with the boots.)

Island Time

Sleeve Island. I'd say see you tomorrow with an FO but we all know how island time works. Fingers crossed!

Just a Little Bit

The yarn did arrive today for the Temptation Poncho but I was too distracted with another project to cast on this afternoon.

I can't wait to share this with you. It's my very own pattern and I'm madly in love with it!

This One's For the Girl

Leslie, I'm talking to you. Yes, I can do it 3 days in a row! ;-)

And for the littlest girl in the house...

This will be the next project on MeMe's needles. Yarn should arrive tomorrow. Stay tuned for a cast on pic!

Day Two

I'm currently working on a pair of thrum mitts.

They're so much fun that I want to add thrums to all of my knitting now. Plus, doesn't this mitt in progress look like a troll doll from the 80s? I just want to roll it back and forth in my hands to see if it'll do wild things like the troll hair did.

NaBloPoMo

Can I do it? I guess we'll find out. :-)

Knitting has been happening here but at a snails pace. MeMe has a special little helper who requires lots of love and attention.

And tell me you'd be able to resist smooching on these sweet chubby cheeks! I certainly can't.
