Polar Treat

Here it is, POLAR, the last new color for Sol Joy. I've had so much fun with this. It's been so exciting to see what new color will pop up each week. I think they're all gorgeous and I hope everyone who has tried Sol Joy loves it as much as I do. :-)

Here's what Shaun had to say...

"Catalina Yarns would like to thank everyone for their wonderful response to Sol Joy. The formal launch of the Sol Joy line will occur later this summer. We will announce the launch on Kerry's blog. Until then, you can still obtain hanks of each color via Adirondack Yarns new retail website. Have a fantastic summer!"

Thanks again for a wonderful time Shaun and Sue!!!

i.m. knittified won the drawing for responding to my plea for design help. Congrats! Drop me an email with your snail mail info and I'll send something yummy your way. :-)

Since I'm on a roll with the drawings I thought I'd do another. Here's the deal...

Drop me a note, either in the comments or by sending an email and tell me what you would do with a hank of Sol Joy. Be funny. Be serious. Be creative. I'll pick my favorite entry at the end of the month and give the winner a chance to have their way with some of this luscious stuff. ;-)

I'm going to buy a hank soon, and while it might become a pair of socks, it also might be a moebius scarf with a wild ruffled edge.

Well, once I got done adoring it in the hank and fondling it and talking to it, I would wind it into a nice center pull ball. And then I would pick just the perfect sock pattern, or even make up a design just for it, and knit it into a beautiful pair of socks for moi.

OOOhhhh, I see a beautiful, soft pair of sockies carressing my toes...swirling up my ankles to warm my legs!
I've made socks for my Sis, my best friend and her son, a friends' granddaughter...don't you think it's time I had a pair of gorgeous, blue and green, loving toe-huggers for myself?!?!?!
I'm dreaming of.....ohhhhh!

I would unravel it all on the floor and then roll around in it, enjoying its yarny goodness...then I would untangle it, wind it into a ball and knit a pair of lovely socks that I would show off to everyone! Ok...so I probably wouldn't roll around in it...I mean, I don't want to spend hours or days trying to untangle it. I would hold it and squeeze it and love it....and knit it!

What beautiful yarn!

I would use it for some socks for my daughter. But not an ordinary pair of socks--oh no. She's nearly two years old, which means she is seriously in the middle of the take-her-socks-off-ALL-THE-TIME (yes, even when it's 20 degrees outside!) stage. So her socks are scattered all over the house, and it's almost impossible to put together a matching pair.

So I'd use this yarn to make several (three? four? five?--as many as I could!) IDENTICAL socks for her, so she'd always have at least ONE set that matches!

I have some Sol Joy Lagoon OTN now. When it grows up it will be Pomatomus socks. I will be purchasing another skein as soon as I pick just one color :-). I must say that I love this yarn more with every stitch. The colors are simply spectacular. I love the color play as I knit along. It is like having a new yarn with every stitch. I finally understand the beauty of handpainted yarns now.

I think if I had another hank I would find a way to redecorate my house with Sol Joy. Sol Joy pillows, Sol Joy curtains, a Sol Joy lamp shade . . .

I'm glad Ollie hasn't found this yet. I would be afraid of how she might think of using this beautiful yarn, going by some of the "interesting" things she has already created in the past. LOL

Have a great day. :)

I think a little purse and belt for my five year old daughter Savy. She is oh so primpy and girly lately..wanted to be a "big girl". The colors would go with so many of her things. Sassy Savy in Sol Joy. LOL

I would add it to my growing stash of "new to me" sock yarns. Goal is to try a new one every time until I figure out which one is my "fav" sock yarn of all time. Of course I will probably never catch up with all the new ones coming out but it sure will be fun trying!

Being the newish knitter that I am, I would LOVE to have a hank of Sol Joy. I have been knitting for my family, Second Sock Swap, Bloomin' Sock Swap for the last 3 months. It is time to knit for myself! And boy do I need to knit for myself. My life has been incredibly rocky of late, Mom sick, totalled van, and torn knee! So PLEASE pick me????? Thank you!

HI -I love knitting socks-have recently bought 6 of COOKIE A. sock patterns so I have lots to choose from-lately I am enjoying wearing shoulder shawls when I spin or knit ,so might do one of those instead- the yarn looks like it would make a fun, and colourful small shawl
