I've Got Gas

Sorry to be so tardy but just in case you've lost count, there's only 16 more days until Christmas. Yikes! Some how writing it out myself makes it even more real.

Toni, Erin, knittinannie, Laura, Meg and Wannietta all got entries for the 6th and Meg, Cecily, Leslie, Adrienne, Lisa D., Joan and SaraCate for the 7th. Congrats ladies!

Just a quick silly story before I head off to bed...

Tuesday night we had to run to the grocery store. Since we were in Lake Placid we decided to go have dinner before we went shopping. As we pulled into the parking lot Bran mentioned that gas was only $2.31 at the station across the street. That's 10 cents cheaper than it is in Saranac Lake. I decided I'd stop when we got done and fill the van. Like usual, nothing ever goes according to plan and we didn't get done dinner until almost 8pm. This meant there was no time for groceries. BUT there was a few minutes to run to Sue's to fondle yarn. "Sue's open until 9 tonight. Since there's no time for grocery shopping would you mind if I ran down quick?," I asked my hubby. He of course said he didn't mind but reminded me of the time (we had to be out to Lake Clear by 8:30 to get the kids) and the fact that I said I was going to get gas. "How about I go to Sue's first and then if there's time I'll get gas?," I asked. He pointed out that the gas station was right across the street. I pointed out that Sue's was only around the corner. Guess who won? In all fairness, I DID have a half tank of gas already. Of course by last night I was almost empty. So when we were over there last night to get the two oldest new boots I finally stopped for gas. Hey, admit it...if you had the choice between saving 10 cents a gallon or spending a few minutes in heaven which would you do?

oh my goodness...there is NO ? about what was really important here...definitely going to the yarn store ...I mean, what if they put some fabulous skein on sale & you weren't there to fondle it & then decide to take it home!

Sowwy, but at $2.30+ per gallon, it's saving some money on gas. You can then put the savings in your handknit sock and use them next time you to go Sue's! See? Extra yarn money :)

Actually, gas here was $1.959 last week then went up to $2.05 and last night when I stopped to fill up was up to $2.08, I guess I'll not complain when I hear your gas rates, Kerry. Remember the good old days of $1.35??? sigh..

Have a lovely - I'm not going to work today - 8-10" of snow is due to fall during the day and I can hardly see outside the window right now.

with the price of gas these days, i would pick gas. then i could justify my yarn purchase cuz i saved $ on gas!

last year, i was complaining because gas was over $2/gal. after seeing the price reach $3/gal, i'm happy with the low $2.

all the more reason to order on-line!

I kept hearing about a contest and, like Jeannie, wasn't sure how to enter. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your blog and loved Darcie's hat, and the story of the Dora bed LOL. Very entertaining. Smiles, Heather mrsbondi at aol dot com

Maybe I made it for the 9th or else I am ahead for the 10th. Who knows at this point. Finally a two day weekend. Yeah!!!

Every time I read your blog, I come away with a smile! Thank you so much for offering your thoughts up to us all....

And I'll side with the majority here, yarn stores win every time. After all, there's a gas station everywhere you turn here in So Cal, and our prices are still in the $2.40 range.

Can't wait to hear what is in your latest "gift" box! Please do enter me in the drawing....

Yike! 16 days! Did you really have to mention that?
Don't want to be bragging but our gas (here in north central KY) is only $2.05 at the moment.

Wow a yarn store that stays open till 9pm - now that's cool :-) Yarn store over gas anytime. I'm always going accross the border to MA for gas - it's about .20 lower/gal than it is in my part of NY. Well and for me to go over the border is just a couple of blocks :-)

It's Saturday! What a lovely day of the week - except for errands...This week I have to add the Ariens dealer for more shear pins for the snow blower.

At any rate, I'll actually post myself this afternoon and give you the story then. Here's my Saturday, 12/10 entry. Have a lovely and please give us the latest installment of "The Dailaesse File."

I think Steph has the right idea. You stroll over to the store and send Hubby to get the gas... LOL!

Anonymous said...

The yarn store would win every time!

Anonymous said...

At those prices, I'd send hubby for the gas and I'd head to the yarn store too! Got to head to Wally World and stock up now on baby yarns for the charity stuff since I won a $50 gift card last night at hubby's company Cmas party. yeeeehaw!

Its me again. I'm lucky my LYS is right across the street from the grocery store and gas station, so I can do all my shopping together.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about gas prices. It seems to make you all worry a lot. Though I do have to worry about trudging through the piles of snow on sidewalks since this whole bloody town is populated with students too lazy to shovel. Damn them.

My LYS tends to carry the more expensive specialty yarns, so I only shop there a few times a year. Maybe five. I'm finding it harder to resist deals online now that I have a credit card though. As soon as I get back from Christmas Break I'm going to buy the Simple Stripes sampler from [www.knitpicks.com]. I really like all the colours and it's good to know they give a discount for buying all of them.

it's still dec 10th where i live.

And its the 10th where I'm at, too

Another day, another comment, but it is all very exciting. Plan for today, lunch and then yarn shopping for the scarf exchange and yarn for baby things for my friends. Today is a good day.

I like to buy new yarn every week also. My LYS carries a very nice selection of fibers and it is often too hard to resist. I am going to 3 different yarn shops this coming week, I am so excited. They all carry a little bit different brands and I need some from all three of them. How lucky can a girl be.

Happy Sunday! I'm finishing up the Christmas stuff today, then knitting...no, I'm really doing much more exciting things, like cleaning the toilet and shower. Life in the fast lane!

I'm new here and I love your blog. Of course, I'd go for a little bit of heaven!
