Chub Club

While I was sitting on my arse awhile back reading through some blogs I came across one that really caught my eye. The blog owner had put a challenge out for people wanting to lose to weight. Now I know that this isn't out of the ordinary but what was out of the ordinary was how she was motivating people to lose weight. Everyone who joined had to send her money. I can't remember how much it was but I want to say that it was well over $100. This money would be held until a specified date at which time all participants would weigh in. The person to lose the most body mass would be the winner and all the money collected from all the participants would be their prize for winning. My immediate thought was that cash is a great incentive to lose weight. Think of all the yarn you could buy! My next thought was that a little public humiliation couldn't hurt either. Honestly, if I have to report in to someone each week I'm going to be damn sure that I'm working really hard to lose so I don't look like a slacker. So, I was all ready to sign up until I read that the money was due a week before I read the post and that signups were closed. Bummer. I've been trying really hard to lose weight since before Christmas. And I have. I've lost 19 pounds and I'm quite proud of it. But I'm stuck now. I need some new motivation. Which brought me back to cash and public humilation. Which prompted me to start this. Go on, check it out. What are you weighting for???

Hi - it's Amy from SP8. That is such a good idea for motivation with dieting. One thing I am starting to use is www.sparkpeople.com
It's a great site ... has most of the tools that Weight Watchers uses, but this site is 100% free.
Good luck with the dieting!

so how are you losing?
i lost about 50 with south beach, and it was hard as i adore fruit. but the bad part was the rebound. while on south beach my chol. dropped to 150. which doc said was normal for a dieter. after south beach it rocketed up to a new high of 235 and i regained the wt. and now i'm a carb addict way more than i ever was before...
i mean literally eat one cookie and mmmsmurfh they're all gone, like an uncontrollable vacuum takes over...
so am trying to gradually convert more to whole wheat, whole grains, healthy carbin, and learn to love lettuce.
it isn't possible!

That is fantastic that you started this group! It sounds like fun. I too have spent the summer trying to get beack in shape again. Good luck to you and the whole group! Funny you mentioned Saratoga Needlearts! I too like that one and there is another in Saratoga The Stitchin'Post which has less of a "glamor" selection but less expensive prices. I have never been to the one in in Albany! I should get there one of these days!!
