Morton Salt

Wasn't it Morton salt that had the little girl on the front with the umbrella skipping through the puddles? We have had a lot of rain for the past, oh I don't know, two weeks and last year when they came through with a new road they botched our driveway so the water doesn't drain anymore it just puddles up into a lake at the bottom of the driveway. Yes, a lake. We're talking almost 8 feet wide by 4 feet high and 4 inches deep. I'm thinking of taking the pool out and praying for rain all summer. Anyways...last night we had to go out to pick Dan and Darcie up from their weekly visitation with their asshole (please forgive me...it's just one of my many pet names for him) father. Bran had pulled in the driveway yesterday afternoon and blocked the van in so he had to pull the car out onto the street so we could go get them. I had just gotten into the van and was getting ready to start it when I see Bran come running around the corner into the drive and then stop. Just like that. I mean he was hauling ass and then nothing. He slowly turned around and started hopping. What in the world was he doing? I turned the headlights on so I could see. Yup. He lost his sneaker. In the lake. We turned the heat on full blast and pointed it at his feet. He was still soggy when we got home. Which reminds me...didn't the Morton girl have rubber boots for jumping puddles??? I'll bet she wasn't soggy.

Wanna know who's in the running for the drawing so far? I drew Lisa D. for Monday and Michelle for yesterday. I've sent you both emails so if you got one you're in the running. Congrats!

Today is sunny and cool and wet...but not raining. It's beautiful! The leaves are changing are so pretty right now. I've got to take Darcie out after school so she can try to sell some candy for their class trip to Albany so I'll try to remember to take the camera and get some pictures. I think it's sad that we sometimes take the beauty of our area for granted. It's a shame to not stop and enjoy it.

And here in TN we're pretty much in a drought with a summer and fall of very, very little rain and the leaves aren't even turning the pretty colors they usually do. Love the hat and am going to try one for whomever I decide it's for. Thanks for the pattern. Will send a photo if and when I finish it. Julie in E. TN

Here I am again :)
It's nice and clear here today too - for a change.

I assume you complained to the Town about their ruining your draininge and they didn't do anything? Why not take a photo with a ruler sticking up to show the depth and send it to the mayor/city manager? That's going to be really hazardous when it's an ice skating rink.

I was just noticing how lovely the leaves are today in Upstate NY. Today was such a blessing after 8 days of rain. Finally seeing the sunshine did a world of good for us all. I hope you and Darcie get to enjoy the colors. They last such a short time. I love Fall. It's always been my favorite season.

yup - it's the Morton girl - didn't she have bright yellow boots, or was that another one?

Don'tcha just love when they fix the roads and drainage areas?! Seems they always make them worse instead of better :-(

Stay dry my friend!

That is so funny. Today at fred meyers tne had puddle jumpers on sale and I bought the grandbaby some with pink strips. That child would live in boots if you let her. She is so funny.

It's hot and sunny here in Texas--we could use a little of that water!

If I told you what I call my ex, I'd probably get arrested for internet porn! Let's just say - it isn't complimentary - but it is accurate!
Stock your "lake" with a couple of goldfish and take a picture. That should get a response from local officials!
